THE WAR IN ARKANSAS.
Memphis, July 30. —Passengers from Helena report that Jeff. Thompson was at Austin yesterday, with a body of men, an ammunition train, and two or three field pieces, endeavouring to find transportation across the Arkansas. It was believed that he intended to stop and seize one of Gen. Curtis's transports, A cavalry force was sent up from Helena, but failed to find the rebels, who had fled in different directions in the interior.
