More Retaliation.—Adj'nt-General Cooper has issued an order directing general officers commanding Confederate troops to ascertain and report if peaceable citizens have been put to death in Arkansas by General Fitch, upon the ground that one of the invading army had been shot down by some unknown person, and upon being certified thereof, they shall forthwith set apart, by lot, from among any prisoners from the army under the command of Fitch, numbers of officers equal in number to the prisoners put to death as aforesaid, and placed in confinement for execution at such a time as may be ordered by the President, and shall regard Fitch, if captured, as a felon, and place him in confinement until further orders.
