Re: Book:Arkansas Confederates, The Cavalry and Ar

My two cents worth:
Just have to ask, did you ever find all of that discussion about Dobbins being in South America.
I heard from a lady who was a descendant of Arkansas Baptist Missionaries to Brazil in the 1880's leaving Nashville, Ar.
English was not her first language, but she spoke it. It was my understanding that Dobbins wife went to join him,
but returned. I think he brother may have gone to staying a few months and returned.
The lady proved- because she could speak the language- that Dobbins had joined the Catholic church and bought
property in Brazil. He also outlived anything that was provided as being true here in the states.
Dobbins may have been killed by Indians, but it was later than any 1869. That story was simply told to cover
what was probably the truth, that he became Catholic and a Brazilian and for all purposes he was dead to the family.
I was interested in Dobbins because my ancestor, Lt. Fielding Price who was captured around Augusta in Nov. of 1864
was listed as being with the 1st Ar. Cav. in the book, Rebel's Hell written with the National Archives being its source.
Fielding Price died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock on Feb. 1, 1865, thus leaving his family flat broke and helpless
n White County, Ar.
Everything looks great on the site about the Arkansas Confederates.
