The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

QSCR / Benton Co., AR Hist. Soc. join forces!!!

QSCR EX-PAN-SION!!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I am extremely excited and very proud to
announce that an agreement has been reached between myself and the
Benton County, Arkansas Historical Society regarding the building and
opening of AN ADDITIONAL QSCR COLLECTION at the BCHS building in
BENTONVILLE, ARKANSAS!!!!! This agreement has many educational
benefits and will bring the partisans and Kansas-Missouri border wars
to a MUCH broader audience!!! The BCHS, as well as other organizations
mentioned below, also have unique opportunities to reach the entire
educational community!!! Here is a breakdown of what this new
collection will bring to northwest Arkansas!

1) They have informed me that they have had an idea to dedicate a part
of the BCHS strictly to the study and research of the Civil War. They
want to use THE NEW QSCR COLLECTION TO BE IT'S CORNERSTONE!!!

2) Some members of the BCHS are members of the Benton County Cemetery
Preservation Group (BCCPG). This group has done magnificent work in
absolutely refacing and clearing out, cleaning out and restructuring
old abandoned cemeteries. I have been informed that THE GUERRILLAS
WILL ACT AS A SPOTLIGHT TO BRING ATTENTION to the history of some of
these cemeteries where Confederate and Union guerrillas / soldiers are
buried and will help these cemeteries gain fame and notoriety!!!

3) Some members of the BCHS and the BCCPG are also members of the
Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society (NWAGS). Materials from the
new collection, including new information that is exclusive to this
new project, will split time between the BCHS and the NWAGS
headquarters, the Judge William Enfield Room at the Bentonville Public
Library in Bentonville, Arkansas!!! The Enfield Room allows both
societies to have power point presentations, meetings, gatherings and,
most importantly, hosting school students in various historical
projects and research to write term papers, essays and the like. They
have hosted students from the entire NW Arkansas area including the
University of Arkansas-Fayetteville!!!

4) Through the BCHS's historical publication, "The Pioneer", the
society will be able to have a bottomless array of Quantrill / border
items to print like articles & stories, pension information, pictures,
Quantrill lists, and much, much more!!! And the BCCPG has a newsletter
that can highlight the gravesites and cemeteries of our border
individuals!!

To all Quantrill and border war historians, reeenactors, authors,
writers and supporters, THIS IS the defining educational center for
the history of Quantrill's men and all who was involved with them!!!
Located just a few miles from Pea Ridge battlefield, the partisans
have a landmark opportunity to be a cornerstone AND a spotlight for
many, many educational projects and endeavours now and for the long
future!!! THIS may be that positive light that the partisans have
needed for over 150 years as THEY will be the springboard through
THREE...count 'em, folks....THREE different historical organizations
to promote education and preservation!!! Lawrence, Centralia, Baxter
Springs, Osceola and the many other events of the era have been
indelibly tied to northwest Arkansas and this new collection will help
the original goal of the QSCR...to make the area "Quantrill South!"

Thanks for reading and we'll see you in Bentonville in 2013!! Remember
to visit the original QSCR at the Gentry Public Library!!
