Yes, GI's are pretty funny. Snafu means 'Situation Normal, All "Fouled" Up.
The general officers liked to use names like SHAEF (for Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Forces) so the GI's mocked
them with their own acronyms. Fubar is "Fouled" Up Beyond All Recognition. I'm sure there were many more.
