He would have reached 18 in 1864 at which time he would have been subject to Conscription.
The only Company B muster roll which survived to be incorporated in the Compiled Service Records is that for the period August 31, 1863 to February 29, 1864.
As no record is found in the available rosters, we must assume he was conscripted into service sometime after that date.
His pension file along with that of his widow's questioner might provide his service history along with those statements made by soldiers attesting to his service.
