This discussion reminds me of some interesting Christian names borne by some of our Confederate ancestors -- such as Brig. Gen. States Rights Gist, of South Carolina.

My favorite Arkansas name is Pvt. High Tariff Aldridge, of Franklin County, a member of Gratiot's Regiment Arkansas State Troops. But my all-time favorite belonged to a man in Co. C, 4th Texas Infantry, the youngest of ten children in the Barziza family -- Capt. Decimus Et Ultimus Barziza -- Latin for "tenth and last" (wishful thinking on the part of the father?).
