TM parole questions

I understand that many if not most of the TM units did not go through a formal parole process. That must of been interesting when the units received word of the surrender in Marshal Texas. The men simply grabbed their personal belongings, there was no stacking of arms, and walked home? What ramifications, if any were there back in Arkansas for not have any parole paperwork. Former Confederates were dis-enfranchised for a time. Could they vote if they had parole papers? So was the TM essentially "unreconstructed"? What are the estimates of the size of the army then? It's kinda hard to imagine thousands of men, upon getting the word simply and suddenly walking home but I guess that's what happened?
