Edmond Person Chitwood (1836-1911)

Rev. Edmond P. Chitwood who is buried in West Washita Cemetery, Washita, Montgomery Co., AR was Civil War veteran. It appears he enlisted at Dardanelle, Ark. He was originally from Alabama and is in Johnson Co., Arkansas in the 1870 census. His father Ezekiel Chitwood served in the Civil War and died in St. John Hospital in Little Rock in 1863. Edmond served in the same company, Co B. 4th Ark. Cal. Reg. US., enlisting only shortly before his father's death.

Was there a policy that sons can be in the same company as their father?
I am looking for more information on their war service.
There is no Civil War marker on his headstone. What percentage of veterans had Civil War emblems on their headstones?
Thanks.
