The Christmas day snow and ice storm of 2012 broke down many trees in and around Confederate Camp Nelson Cemetery. The northern fence line being hit the hardest, I spent two afternoons with a chainsaw and cleaned up the damaged trees along the fence. I also cut up broke down and badly bent damaged trees in the cemetery area. The main trees damaged were hickory, wild black cherry, and hawthorn. I hauled a load of the storm damaged wood home and it is now stored in my shop to season out. I plan on making something historical from the wood in the future. I hated to see the tree limbs just piled up and burned.
