Re: Collective Arkansas Brigade histories

Well not sure how hard you are looking but there are a few regimental histories out there. 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, 36th Inf regiments, 1st Mtd Rifles, 3rd Cav, Crawford's Cav, Poe's Cav articles etc. But you are correct in that there are no multitude of histories of each regiment. Unfortunately the amount of available primary sources to back regimental histories on Arkansas units is quite limited. James Willis Book does about the best overall with a big emphasis on Reynold's Brigade. But there could be excellent histories written on Govan's Brig, Hawthorne/Cocke's, McRae's, Gause's, Churchill's just to name a few but again the primary sources are very limited but something could be done. Perhaps this will spur some of the posters here who really have expertise in certain regiments etc to do it.
