I came across the designation Casuals in the order of battle for the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry. Each side had a detachment that had Casuals in the title. Gause's Brigade had a detachment "Dismounted Casuals Dockery's Brigade, Lt. Col. HGP Williams". I am assuming he was in command. The Union side also Third Division, 1st Brigade "Casual Detachment, 2nd Brigade, Capt. Marmaduke H. Darnell." Does anybody know what a Casual is? I have never come across that term.
