3/15/62 Left Bright Star for the army-Stayed at Arkadelphia five days there went to Little Rock – stayed two days‐ and stayed at DeVall's Bluff five days. Formed a Regt at that place

The Regt was ordered to Memphis then to Ft. Pillow,

4/13 reached Fort Pillow-The weather was very wet and the mud was very severe. All the Regt got sick.

4/27 we left Ft Pillow-We were ordered to Corinth

5/1 reached Corinth

The 20th Ark as part of Rust's brigade was diverted from Memphis to Fort Pillow while the rest of the Army of the West was sent on to Corinth. After a few weeks at Fort Pillow, Rust's brigade rejoined Van Dorn's army at Corinth
