Headstones - can they be dated

Please tell me more about the white marble headstones.
1. What do you call the CSA cross on the headstone?
2. Does the Union shield have a name?
3. Has the design of the headstone changed over the decades?
4, When was the first headstone installed?
5. Can a headstone be dated from its shape or inscription?
6. Who makes the headstones? Where do they come from?
7. Is it marble? From here?
8. Any suggestions for installing a headstone in a cemetery so it doesn’t fall over, or sink into the ground.
9. Approx. 15% of the headstones are undated. Is there anything stopping anyone for putting dates on the headstone?
Thanks.
