Civil War Confederate Army Officer, US Senator. In 1878, he was elected to the United States Senate as a Democrat from Arkansas and served from 1879 to 1885. Previously, he had been a Colonel of the 4th regiment for the Arkansas Infantry for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He was captured in Oak Hills, Missouri and imprisoned for 2 years. This post adds a small amount of information from the web-site Find A Grave. I own a photograph of Col. James David Walker that is in tintype format and dates ca. 1860s ~ 1870s. He is pictured in civilian clothing and beside him is one of his young son's and apparently his wife. I hesitate to post the picture since I'm still trying to verify the images and the source from which it came.
