Grand Prairie Civil War Round Table meets 5-14-13

Scott Akridge from Searcy will bring the program to the Grand Prairie CWRT on Tuesday, May 14. The meeting is at the Lonoke County Museum, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in downtown Lonoke, at 215 S. E. Front Street. As always, the event is free.
Talk Title: From "A Severe and Bloody Fight" to "Whipped, Routed, and Scattered": The Sesquicentennial Historical Marker Program of the White County Historical Society and the White County Civil War Round Table.
Scott Akridge is a past president of the the Arkansas Archeological Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the White County Historical Society. A former high school history teacher, Akridge co-wrote A Severe and Bloody Fight: The Battle of Whitney's Lane and Military Occupation of White County, Arkansas, May and June, 1862 with Emmett Powers in 1996. Now in its third printing, this book focuses on the foray of General Samuel Curtis' Army of the Southwest into White County on their road to Little Rock.
