Trigg's Battery Clue

My Great Grandfather, George W. Hill enlisted in Powells 14th Arkansas Infantry in Yellville. He was enlisted for a year in 1861. He was discharged in 1862.
He applied for a pension in 1901, which was granted. The application stated that he served in"Artillery of J.T. Trigg's company of the {Regiment}(this was on the form) 14 MackMahon (possibly McMahan) Battalion".

He was discharged in Mississippi and it looks as if he Joined the new Trigg's Battery (9th Arkansas Artillery?) which was attached to the 14th or whatever the 14th became.

His proof of service was signed by W.E. Whitfield who stated that he knew him from 1862 until the end of the war and that he (George) served with J.T. Trigg's Battery of Artillery.
