I have been doing some reading on the Knights of the Golden Circle. In Glenn Dedmondt's excellent book on the civil war flags of Arkansas he states that Van Dorn never explained the source of his TM pattern flag that had crescent moon and stars. The K.G.C. also used those symbols. Just coincedence? By any chance do we know if Van Dorn happened to be a "Knight of the Golden Circle" and used thier symbols?
