I know John T. Coffee attempted unsuccessfully to recruit a regiment prior to Price's raid, but he and the few men he had managed to gather accompanied Price. I just discovered my great-great grandfather T.C. Johnson most likely was one of those recruits. However unlikely I know it to be, is there any information about these men and what happened to them after Shelby relieved Coffee and ordered him to report to Price?
