confederate bushwhackers in north Arkansas

I was wondering if anyone had any info on a few confederate bushwhackers I am interested in.

John Cecil said to be a confederate Captain and bushwhacker in north/northwest Arkansas. His cousin Ester Sisel was my ggggggrandmother.

Dan Johnson he turn up over and over again in the stories of Newton county and Limestone Valley.

I have been told that guerilla leaders were often called “chiefs” is this true? There are a number of stories that include a “half breed, chief long hair” and his bushwhacker gang.

Any info I can get will be very helpful. Thanks!
