Bruce, McDuff was actually born in Alabama in 1830. His parents were Patrick A. Vance
and Susan (Craven) Vance. The 1850 census shows his place of birth as Alabama. I have
some family history that supports that also.
They moved to Lafayette Co. Mississippi, before he moved to Saline Co. AR sometime
between the 1850 and 1860 census. He had a Vance uncle already settled there.
