Kevin, your John Felix Rawls did indeed serve in the 2nd Arkansas Battalion. As with so many Confederate soldiers, his name is misspelled on the company rolls; in this case, John "Rolls". This man was discharged on a surgeon's certificate of disability at Camp Lee, near Richmond, Virginia, on June 6, 1862. According to his descriptive roll, he was age 17, born in Hot Spring County, Arkansas. Eighteen months later he enlisted in the 4th Arkansas Cavalry, U.S. Volunteers. His descriptive roll in U.S. service matches that from his previous C.S. service, i.e., born c1845 in Hot Spring County.
