He evidently was home from the war. He went after his stolen Horses, at Clarksville and recovered them. A group of Masons escorted him half way back toward Hector to a point they felt was safe for him to go on alone. Soon after the bushwhackers attacked him, outnumbered he was fatally wounded and died.

His wife was interred next to him, sadly her stone is broken and on the ground.
