Re: 50th Militia Regiment, Prairie County

Company B became company C of the 25th... John F Thomas is really John D Thomas and was Capt, P. M. Ballow is really P M Ballew who started as a SGT and became MAJ, W S Roscol is in reality W S Rasco and was a SGT in Co C.

Thomas was 24, Ballew was 34 and Rasco was 40 yrs of age respectively. Could not find F A Soch but did find an F A Stanley not sure if this is him or not. Evidently some of the original handwriting may be hard to read or misspelled on the rosters.

Thomas was killed at Battle of Murfreesbor TN Dec 31 1862 and along with CPT Richard Hammond (Co B Saline Co Company) were buried wrapped in the same blanket in a small family cemetery there. I had contacted an archaeologist who went to the little cemetery and says he has located the actual grave site of both men based on period written descriptions by their men where they buried them.
