I am looking for a man who possibly served in either a Texas regiment or an Arkansas Regiment. His hame was Ashley Houston, born 1838 in Mississippi and died in 1898. His wifes name was Nancy Houston. In the 1860 sensus of Vineyard Township, Washington Co., Ark. he is shown with his wife and for children, the two oldest of which were born in Texas. Fold3 was not much help, He was born in Tippah Co., Miss, where he had relatives serving in the 2nd Mississippi Infantry, one of which was killed in the railroad cut fight with the 6th Wis at Gettysburg and the other wounded and captured during Pickets charge. We think he was consripted by a Texas regiment in 1862, but am uncertain. Any ideas or help would be great.
