This is the best I've been able to come up with. Nothing on a Whitley Camp, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, or Tennessee.

Nor was I able to find a field officer by the name of Whitley.

John W. Darby, Private, Company D, 4th Regiment Missouri Infantry, enlisted February 25, 1862 at Alton, Oregon County, Mo. by J. R. Woodside for 3 years, paid $50 bounty, recorded present on June 30, 1862 on outpost near Saltillo/Tupelo, then absent, sick in the county on the next bi-monthly muster, then present at the Sept/Oct, 1862 muster, no further records, his record contains correspondence between the Adjutant General, War Department and the Oklahoma Board of Pension Commissioners dated September 20, 1915

Company D, got to Corinth April 30, vacated Corinth May 29, 1862

…….

About November 1, 1862, the 1st and the 4th Regiment Missouri Infantry were consolidated and formed the 1st and 4th Consolidated Regiment Missouri Infantry, this company being consolidated with Company I, 4th Regiment Missouri Infantry, to form Company I of the new regiment

J. W. Darby, Private, Company I, 1st and 4th Consolidate Infantry, Missouri, enlisted February 25, 1862 at Alton by Woodside for the war, present at the end of year 1862 muster, captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, paroled July 6, subsequently recorded on muster rolls as deserted at Vicksburg, no further records
