In Henry Merrill biography covering his work on the Lower Arkansas River in 1863, he gives the details of how these two guns were recovered by the 12th Texas Cavalry from the well in Fort Hindman/Arkansas Post from where they had been thrown by the federals. That they were taken to Little Rock to be refitted. Then placed at Fort Pleasent north of Pine Bluff.

They were removed from Fort Pleasent and taken back to Little Rock for that campaign. And were found at the Little Rock Arsenal by Gen'l Steele according to his report of the capture of Little Rock in the OR's
