It came from the Centennial History of Arkansas, Volume II.
Joel M. McClintock had an interesting career in the military having been
captured, was at Helena where he had typhoid, was at DeValls Bluff and was with General
Steele in Little Rock. Plus, in 1864, he resigned and went into private business there at
Devalls Bluff. Apparently the man got around as we would say with his business dealings.
He was serving in the state legislature and was the one who introduced the
bill to form Lonoke County in 1873. He owned 2500 acres of land in the general area.
Another interesting thing was that he and the second wife had taken a trip to Europe in
1910 to see the sights.
