After the Battle of Pea Ridge, when Gen Van Doren moved most of the Confederate Army east of the Mississippi, one portion of the army left Van Buren, Arkansas for Des Arc and the steamboats to carry them to Memphis. This group passed through Stony Point. Later in May and June of 1862, When General Curtis and the Union Army had arrived at Batesville, the road between Little Rock and Searcy saw a lot of use, all these units passed through Stony Point. Of major importance was W.H. Parsons' 12th Texas Cavalry, but other units passing through Stony Point on their way to the fight at Searcy May 19, 1862 (Whitney's Lane) were Alf Johnson's Texas Spy Company, Captain William T. Hicks' Independent Arkansas Cavalry and DeWitt Giddings and a part of the 21st Texas Cavalry had moved from Shreveport to Searcy.
But Linda of special interest to you, came on August 24, 1864 when General Shelby left Dobbins 1st Arkansas Cavalry at the bridge below Stony Point to guard his back door, while he made his attack at Ashley's Station and Jones Hay Station on the Memphis and Little Rock Railroad. When Shelby made his return trip to the bridge while on his way to Pocahontas. The Union Army chased Shelby to the bridge and a fight ensued on August 26. As Shelby rode through the Union Cavalry had no idea that Dobbins men lay in ambush. Shelby rode a short distance pass the bridge and turned back on the union cavalry and the union cavalry high tailed it, with them getting it from all sides.
