Here is the first page of diary kept by 1SG Anderson Cunningham Company I, for the entire war. He went on to become Captain of Company I 11th Arkansas Infantry during the Civil War.

Anderson Cunningham book bought on the 22 Oct 1846. 1811 Anderson Cunningham born Nov 19. Volunteered on the 17th of June 1846 and went into camps on the 22[nd]. Left for home on furlow. Capt Inglish Comdng. March on the 24th June 1846 toward Washington, Hempstead County the place of Rendevouse on the 24th. Joined the Company on the evening at Rockport, got to Washington on the 30th June. On the 1st day of July 1846 Capt Inglish Company was rec'd in the USA servis for 12 months unless sooner dischared. 64 present, horses valued, Arkansas Ridgiment was received and elected Yell colonel, Rhone Lieutenant Colonel, S Borland Major
