I, too, am a direct descendant of Peter Martin of Searcy County, Arkansas. William Matthew “Math” Martin is my g-g grandfather and Peter is my g-g-g grandfather. George Martin has provided you with the same military service I have but the ages are wrong. Peter Martin (1824 - 1910) and wife, Rachael Shipman Martin (1826 - 1864) are listed with their sons, James Jefferson “Jeff” Martin (1847 - 1930) and William Matthew “Math” Martin (1848 - 1927) plus other siblings on the 1860 Searcy County Census. When Peter joined, he was 40 years of age, possibly claiming to be 30 to avoid being discounted. James was 17 and Matthew was 16. To join up and be with their father in the same company, they jacked their ages up to 18.
