Re: Cavalry Units
In Response To: Cavalry Units ()

I of course have the Poe's Bn of Cavalry info...mostly members of the 11th Ark Inf and some from 17th after fall of Port Hudson and Little Rock. It is synonymous with the 11th Ark Cav and Logan's Ark Cav.

Battles and skirmishes: Mt Elba, Poison Springs, Marks Mill, Princeton/Tulip, Hurricane Creek (2 events)

AS to Crawford's BN that was COL William A. Crawford and he was given a battalion of conscripts and when he went into northern Ark, many of them deserted, especially in the battles around Ft Smith, Jenny Lind, Backbone Mtn etc. He and BG Cabell stated his pretty much just dissolved. Whatever remnant was left was assimilated into the new Crawford's Ark Cav Regiment (aka 10th Trans Miss Cav or 1st Ark Cav) organized Dec 30, 1863.

Battles of the BN: Jenny Lind, Backbone Mtn, Princeton (Dec 8, 63) right before organization
