Re: Captain Francis Marion Hawkins

F. M. Hawkins, Private, Company E, 24th Regiment Arkansas Infantry,* enlisted June 16, 1862 at Monticello by Lt. Col. Whittington for 3 years or the war, elected January 3, 1864 from 1st Sergeant to Sr. 2nd Lieutenant, Company B, Dawson’s Regiment, age 28, passed Examining Board, no further records

Note: The Jan/Feb, 1864 muster roll for Company B (Dawson's/Hardys) is the last in the records which precludes further information on his subsequent service from these records

* This company was consolidated with Company B, same Regiment, to form Company B, Dawson’s (subsequently Hardy’s) Regiment Arkansas Infantry.

That part of the 19th Regiment Arkansas Infantry (Col. C. L. Dawson) which was not captured January 11, 1863 at Arkansas Post, Ark., with a like portion of the 24th Regiment Arkansas Infantry and Companies A and B, Crawford’s Battalion Arkansas Infantry, were consolidated into a Regiment and designated Dawson’s (subsequently Hardy’s) Regiment Arkansas Infantry.
