Scott -- Early in my research I had intended to write a regimental history of the 3rd Arkansas, but I could never figure out when to stop researching and start writing. Now, some 30+ years later, I'm still researching. So, no sir, I guess I'll never write that book.
Are you familiar with Robert K. Krick's "The Gettysburg Death Roster: The Confederate Dead at Gettysburg"? It was published by Morningside Press in 1981. It lists 3,872 names, but Mr. Krick states that he only searched the service records of about half the Confederate regiments which were engaged at Gettysburg. He cites other sources, such as NARA record groups 94 (Confederate wounded in hospitals at Gettysburg) and 109 (Confederate States Army Casualties: Lists and Narrative Reports). He reckoned that they covered maybe a quarter of the regiments engaged.
So a more comprehensive listing of Confederate casualties is DEFINITELY needed!
