Mark -- Andrew Jackson Davis enlisted in Cox's Company Arkansas Cavalry at Clarksville, Arkansas, on June 18, 1861, by Capt. B. W. Cox, for twelve months; age 18; remarks, gray horse, valued at $140.00. He was erroneously listed as Anderson J. Davis.

Capt. Batson Whitehurst Cox's company, the "Johnson Lancers," was recruited in Johnson County, and joined Col. Dandridge McRae's "Regiment of Mounted Infantry of Arkansas Volunteers" at Fayetteville on or about July 7, 1861.
