John T. Warner served as a corporal in Co. A, 46th Regiment Arkansas Mounted Infantry (aka Coleman's, later Crabtree's Regiment Arkansas Cavalry). This company was Capt. Samuel J. McGuffin's "Popcorn Company", so called because some of its members were underage boys. It was recruited primarily in Independence County.
