Re: Confederate artillery at Camp Nelson

Danny, While Pratt's Battery certainly became part of the Texas Division at Camp Nelson, I am not sure that Hart's Battery ever was at Camp Nelson. As you are well aware that the orders recorded in the Alexander Papers seemed to have been changed more often than bedsheets in a cheap motel.

Hart's Battery became part of Garland's Brigade, (technically 4th Brigade of the Texas Division), Garland's Brigade as far as I can determine was never at Camp Nelson. Garland's 6th Texas Infantry moved frrom Benton to Camp White Sulphur Springs in late July '62. It was joined there by the 24th and 25th Texas Cavalry (dismounted) and Hart's Battery was formed there with them in August '62. There are several muster rolls of men being detached from units at Sulphur Springs to join Hart's battery.

I believe that there is an order in the Hindman telegraphs that sends a detactment from Sulphur Springs to Oklahoma (Indian territories) to get artillery harness and guns (Parrots) from Fort Washita, I believe, and brings them to Sulphur Springs. As you know that Garland's Brigade moved from Sulphur Springs to Arkansas Post in late September, having never joined up with the Texans at Camp Nelson but being assigned to Roane's Division.
