Thank you so much, Mr. Martin! I have wondered if this William L. Morgan is my ggg-grandfather. What you have provided is more detailed than Fold3, I will study closer. He deposed in his pension application he was never imprisoned, so that makes me hesitate - but other details fit.

I have tried to find the term "Hindman's Brigade" in older records, hoping that would help me understand his grave marker, and have not found that term.

He stated very plainly on his pension application he was in Company A of the 1st Arkansas. Confusion of a feeble old man? I can see that the formations were sometimes complicated, with merging and shifting of men. Is it possible what he provided was somehow correct?

I am in Lexington Kentucky and knew I would need to turn to Arkansas experts to make any progress on my confusion.
