So here is what I Gather and would like someone to say yes this is the correct information.

So William J. Rogers. Owen's Battery was part of the Meridian Campaign Correct? So as I am looking at the maps and the info It looks to me like he would have been captured at some point by Smith on his way to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Okolona

Does this sound Correct? One of the things that I would like further understanding on is it says that he was received in Memphis the same day Smith is known to have returned to Memphis so this is what leads me to believe this is a possible scenario
