Thomas Benton Garison (he signed his name with one "r"), 1836-1865, was a resident of Drew County, Arkansas, when the war began. He enlisted in Co. A, 6th Battalion Arkansas Cavalry, at Little Rock on August 1, 1861, by Capt. T. C. Peak, for three years or the war. His company was reorganized as Co. B, 2nd Regiment Arkansas Cavalry, on May 15, 1862, and Garison was elected first lieutenant to rank from that date. He was detailed as the regimental adjutant on July 1, 1862. He resigned on a surgeon's certificate of disability at Grenada, Mississippi, on December 11, 1862, and his resignation was approved on December 31, 1862. He died, apparently at home, on April 17, 1865, and is interred in Union Ridge Cemetery in Drew County, Arkansas.
