I don't have any information regarding the possibility that Bear Bryant had an ancestor in the Civil War. My point, or problem, is that I cannot find anyone related to Ida Kilgore Bryant (the Coach's mother) other than her husband and children. I cannot remember, but someone seems to have told me that John Henry Kilgore, who built the Kilgore Hotel in Fordyce about 1913, was Ida's brother. But, as I say, I find no reference anywhere to such as this, nor do I find any reference to John Henry's siblings or ancestors. It would certainly be great if someone could answer the question -- were John Henry Kilgore and Ida Kilgore Bryant brother and sister?
