Re: "Name dropped from rolls to Mo rolls"?

Being dropped form the rolls indicates one is no longer a member of the organization. One could be dropped for a number of reasons, discharge, transfer, desertion, death, capture, etc.

William Pumphrey., 20, Private, Company L, 11th Kentucky Cavalry, joined for duty and enrolled October 9, 1863 at Louisville, Ky. for 3 years, present at the February 29, 1864 muster, received $37 bounty, present at the August 31, 1864 muster, at Louisville, Name dropped from Rolls to Mo/Mc? Roll Co. [sp?]***

Note, his name is not recorded at the subsequent bi-monthly muster held Sept/Oct, 1864 at Lexington, Ky.

*** Cannot confirm spelling

Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Union Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Kentucky

He was apparently drafted into the Union Cavalry upon taking Oath of Allegiance to the United States, being of Conscription age
