This touches on a conversation that Brian Howerton and I have had about the 46th Arkansas mounted Infanrtu, vs the 48th, vs Coleman's Missouri CAV.
Traditionally it has been accepted that Coleman formed the 46th and Crabtree was the second in Command or LT COL of that unit.
Crabtree brought the survivors back to Arkansas after Prices Raid.
There is evidence that after the 46th was formed, Coleman left, went to Missouri a head of Price and formed another unit.
Then there are a hand full of POW record that apear to identify members of Crabtree 's command as the 48th Arkansas Mounted Infantry.
