10/4/62 Holmes to Richmond asking that 6 unattached Co's be organized into a Bn & recommends Dobbins as Lt Col & Chrisman as Maj

11/8/62 Palfrey, AIG Richmond to Holmes-Sec of War acknowledges receipt of yours of 10/4 relative to organizing a Bn of 6 unattached Co's of Cav and assigning Maj Chrisman to the command. You are hereby [allowed] to organize the Bn yourself, send in the muster rolls, and the appointments will be made.

10/8/62 To Maj Chrisman Des Arc-The order forming Anderson’s, Rutherford’s, Corley’s & McGhee’s Co’s into a Bn under your command has not been revoked-arrest any who do not comply

Capt. Corley Ark Cav Cotton Plant 10/27-left 2 weeks ago per orders from Maj Chrisman to watch enemy at Helena- I met with Capt. Johnson’s Co.
