In the OR (Vol.13, p.954-962) is a lengthy letter from Albert Pike to Hindman dated 3 July 1862 . On page 955 he states "I hoped to receive the regiments that Adams and Gallagher had raised for me." Adams' regiment is presumably Charles W. Adams' 23rd Infantry. The Index and p.865 of the same volume identify Gallagher as Judge George A. Gallagher. I can't find a Gallagher as a regimental commander or organiser - can anybody help me out with further info on his unit?
