William W. Hipolite was a New York union officer and Surgeon at the hospital in DuValls Bluff during the war. He stayed in DuValls Bluff and after the war continued being a Doctor there. He was over the 113th U.S. Colored troops at DuValls Bluff. He died in 1918 at DuValls Bluff and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery there along with 10 other Hipolite family members. The Oakland Cemetery may be the resting place of the Union dead from the Hospital at DuValls Bluff, until they were reinterred to the new National Cemetery in Little Rock about 1868.
