Four companies subsequently served in the 1st Battalion, Missouri Cavalry, 1st Indian Brigade. In Aug, 1862, the remaining five companies were divided into eight companies and in Nov 1862, were dismounted and consolidated into four companies and assigned to Clark's Regiment, Missouri Infantry.

Company H, Commanded by Capt. John F. Ross. Mustered in on July 14, 1862 at Ft Davis. This company was formerly (1st) Company K, 1st Regiment Cherokee Mounted Volunteers. It subsequently became Company H, Clarkson's Battalion of Calvary. Independent Rangers.

"Clarkson's Battalion of Calvary, Independent Rangers was organized April 1, 1862 with six companies. In May 1862It was joined by three companies of recruits and one company of Indians. Soon after July 3, 1862, these four companies and one of the original companies left the command. What became of the Indian Company has not been ascertained but the four other companies subsequently served with the 1st Battalion Missouri Cavalry, 1st Indian Brigade. The remaining five companies were divided August 4, 1862 making eight companies and on November 9, 1862, they were dismounted and consolidated into four companies which were assigned to Clarks' Regiment Missouri Infantry as Companies D, E, G, and I,"
