Hi,

I have a lot of information about Francis. He enlisted on March 13, 1862 at Jacksonport by Maj. A. M. Haskell, Turnbull's Batt. Ark Inf. of Little Rock-- persent . (On another place it says enlisted Feb. 22, 1862 Hickory Plains, Prairie Cty by Capt A.M Reinhardt). My first letter from him is dated March 26th from Camp Van Dorn. Brother Newt unit joined up with Francis and Francis mentions him in several letters along with other neighborhood boys from Des Ark.

Last bit of information says F.M. Hayley--Co. C--25th Ark Inf.
Of prisoners of war paroled on terms as agreed upon between Gen. Ganby and Gen. Taylor for 5 days ending May 15, 1865 at Memphis, Tenn. by Col. Geo. B. Hoge Dist. Provost Marshall--Not dated.

Also have--- last battle for Francis was at Bentonville, N.C. March 19, 1865. Stewart's Army of Tenn. against Sherman. Battle resulted in Union losses of 1,646, but Confederate losses of 239 killed, 1,694 wounded, of which Francis was one, making it his third wound of the war. Records show that Francis was in the hospital in Bentonville in March, 1865.

Thanks for any information.

Kathy
