Thanks Anthony. This was very helpful. It is interesting to think that my GGFs may have fought against each other in south Arkansas but I dont think I will ever find clear documentation that John Holcomb served until the end of the war. The only thing that makes me think this is possible is that his next child (my GF) was born in 1868. I would think the birth might have been sooner had he just returned home in 1863 versus 1865.
