Yes, this was a key letter for me to see. It explains many remarks and circumstances that occur later in his Civil War experience. I have now seen almost a dozen of his letters home that were found in his daughter's trunk when she died in 1953. I am surprised that this information was available. My shirttail cousin is writing a story based on these letters and I am happy that she sent this one to me and okayed my publishing it on this board. I think she is generous.
